The Photonic Networks and Technology Laboratory aims at the development of the critical technology and infrastructure for high-capacity optical transport networks. Its mission is to design and propose innovative switching paradigms and network architectures as well as solutions for long-haul transmission systems, long reach-high speed PONs and high-capacity all-optical interconnection systems. The laboratory has established long standing collaborations with US industry as well as other EU based academic partners. The Photonics networks and technology laboratory is a well-equipped laboratory. Its infrastructure includes 40 Gb/s electrical and lightwave test & measurement equipment and a state-of-the art C & L-band DWDM test-bed. In addition, a 10Gb/s, programmable OBS edge router has been developed using high-speed FGPAs as well as a PON test-bed including a high speed, colorless ONUs. The Photonic Networks and Technology Laboratory constitutes an organic part of Research Unit 1 | | |
